I never quite got why writers or artists need inspiration to write or create, but since I started writing the “Editor’s Voice”-piece every month I have come to realize that inspiration can be quite handy. I always postpone this article to the very last deadline seeing as I’ve found myself, several times, staring at a blank page. However, this month’s piece was inspired by true events.
Since I grew up on a farm but now reside in the city, every now and then I get this itch, this yearning for open spaces and nature. This weekend was one of those getaways that came at exactly the right time. Leaving Windhoek on Friday after work, I never thought this trip to the farm would be so liberating and so full of fun, laughter and some scary moments. We all know Robbie Wessels’ “Leeu Loop” song, now I’m going to tell you how my “Zebra Loop” came to be.

As an interlude to the ideas we intend to commit to paper, we shall use a story from the Greek mythology. The story of Casandra refers to an unfortunate and sad fate. According the Greek mythology, there was a beautiful princess in the city of Troy called Casandra. Casandra was a precocious and charming lady who caught the eye of all mortals and gods alike. The god Apollo was also attracted to this beautiful young lady and intended to make her his own.
Investing in securities such as shares, debentures and bonds are profitable as well as exciting. However, even though it is rewarding, it also involves a great deal of risk and calls for scientific knowledge and artistic skill. In such investments both rational and emotional responses are involved.

RECYCLING: 3RD "R"
Most of us know the phrase “Reduce, Reuse and Recycle”. This is probably one of the most important phrases to remember and implement in your life, yet few of us have really taken this to heart. Some of us may think it is a waste of time, others may think it’s just another way for companies to make money, and others may simply feel that it is too much work to find out exactly how to do it.
BENEFITS OF PROBIOTICS
BUYS STEENKAMP (B.PHARM)
Bacteria have a reputation for causing disease, so the idea of tossing down a few billion a day for your health might seem – literally and figuratively – hard to swallow. Probiotics are described as “live organisms administered in adequate amounts that confer a beneficial health effect on the host”. The word probiotic is derived from pro and biota, which means “for life”. Although probiotics have been around for some time, interest in their potential health benefits has increased dramatically in the past 5 years.
